In 1993 started the academic and institutional growth of the Professional School of Psychology, under the leadership of Dr. Johan Leuridan Huys, Dean of Communication Sciences, Tourism and Psychology Faculty. Two years later, in 1995 was published volume 1 which would be the emblematic publication of the institution, VERITAS psychology journal. This name remained until volume 3, 1997. This year an anecdotal fact happened: The Universidad de San Martin de Porres published its own journal, giving it the same name, VERITAS, based on our university’s motto “VERITAS LIBERABIT VOS.” Due to the reason mentioned above, the journal changed its name to LIBERABIT since the volumen 4, 1998 keeping us close to our legacy that is preserved until today.

In 2005 was implemented a new editorial policy in LIBERABIT. Since our participation in different international events, especially those organized by the Union Latinoamericana de Entidades de Psicologia (ULAPSI) and the Federacion Iberoamericana de Psicologia (FIAP), the importance of giving visibility to the scientific production of psychologists was recognized, going beyond national borders. One of the most efficient ways to achieve this task is the inclusion of our journal in the catalogs and international databases. For these purposes it was necessary to raise the journal’s editorial quality, to achieve the standards required by the scientific community.

Thus, in 2006 LIBERABIT was indexed in the Base de Datos Bibliografica de Psicologia – Psicodoc, led by the Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos de Madrid, Spain. In 2007 the journal was included in the Sistema Regional de Información en Línea para Revistas Científicas de América Latina, el Caribe, España y Portugal, Latindex – Mexico), Red de Revistas Científicas de América Latina y el Caribe, España y Portugal, Redalyc – Mexico , and Periódicos Electrônicos em Psicologia, PePSIC – Brazil.

Progressively, our journal was included in the Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde Psicologia, BVS-Ulapsi-Brazil; Portal de difusion de la produccion cientifica, Dialnet - Spain; Directory Open Access Journals, DOAJ – Sweden; Scientific Electronic Library Online, SciELO – Brazil and Peru; Red Peruana de Bibliotecas en Salud, Lipecs – Repebis; Literatura Latino-Americano e do Caribe de Informação em Ciências da Saúde, Lilacs – Brazil; Red Iberoamericana de Innovacion y Conocimiento Cientifico, REDIB – Spain and Web of Science, WoS.

Until 2009 the journal had an annual print and by virtue of its editorial growth, it became a semi-annual publication.

In this performance, LIBERABIT has also an electronic format, in full text.

For the purposes outlined above, the proposed papers for publication are subject to an arbitration process, conducted by members of the Scientific Advisory Committee and Committee on Review and Opinion.

The purpose of having a wide spread and scope is evidenced by the fact that LIBERABIT receives diverse papers not only from national institutions but also from Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Spain, France and Germany.

The aim that motivates to the editorial board is to pursue this line of development in order to locate LIBERABIT in the context of the best publications of its kind in Latin America.

The Editorial Committee expresses its appreciation to the writers and reviewers for the confidence placed in us and in particular, to our Dean for his invaluable support.
